SPARRING
There is no substitute for practical application to develop courage, confidence, fitness, timing and awareness. Sparring drills and free sparring are included in both the Adult and Junior Dragon class. Real world sparring eliminates the tournament regulations that hinder your ability to defend yourself. Tournaments like UFC are nothing more than than higher level sports activities with referees and rules that don't exist on the street. This is not street self-defense, don't be fooled! Jui-jitsu style defense will not work on the street!
American Kenpo emphasizes practical application in the real world
, not in the artificial world of the martial arts school. Students learn how to avoid kicks and strikes, defend and attack, and develop their self-defense skills in real time and under real stress. This is critical if you want to really be able to defend yourself. Students wear protective equipment for these classes.
While it is possible to sustain some form of injury in martial arts, studies have shown that martial arts have one of the lowest incidents of injuries of any sports activity. Soccer, Basketball, Football, Tennis, Gymnastics, and Volleyball, all rank higher in frequencyand severity of injuries.
BULLY BUSTER !
Accelerated Self-Defense course that eliminates formal martial arts traditions and provides a "Fast Track" education. This course requires dedication and participation. Not a lecture format, but hands-on, no-nonsense methods and strategies that work in the field. Sessions are 3 months each, Beginner, and Advanced. No Belt ranking awarded for this program, just powerful information you can use. Great for business executives and professionals who must travel alone without bodyguards.
WEAPONS AND GROUNDFIGHTING
Specialty instruction in various Pacific weapons systems including Kali, Escrima, and Jui-Jitsu. These classes are additional in-depth instruction added to the base Kenpo curriculum if you want even more expertise.
KID SAFE NETWORK
Special programs for kids and their parents on how to avoid and foil attacks by child molesters and pedofiles. Hands on training with role playing scenarios and real information you can use. Not the typical "Stranger Danger" programs you see elsewhere. Taught when scheduled or for your special group as needed.
CARDIO KICKBOXING / BOOTCAMP!
Burn up to 800 calories an hour! Not for the faint of heart!
Not the typical gym group class. Combination of Aerobic and Strength Circuit training combined with pulse-pounding bag workouts! Classes are taught by advanced martial arts instructors and former military instructors who will show you the correct way to train without injuries. Cooper Aerobics Center Certified Instructors, and U.S. Marines!
