About Mr Rob
Sifu Mr Rob has been training and teaching in the Martial Arts for over 35 years. Mr Rob brings a wealth of experience from various experiences that few instructors can match. Mr Rob believes that all training should be practical with real-world applications and proven in street situations.
Mr Rob served with the US Marine Corps for 22 years in various types of units, retiring as a 1stSgt. This experience gives Mr Rob a true insight that many Black Belts just do not have. Mr Rob has trained and motivated many people in the military, and this experience is a valuable aid in completing the student's journey in the martial arts. This insight into the mental aspects of combat are often missing in the ordinary dojo.
Mr Rob graduated from The University of North Texas and is also certified by the American Council on Martial Arts. The ACMA is an independant training and certification program not related to any martial arts group. This special training is much like earning a teaching certificate for educators in the public school system. This certification means that not only will your program be guided by an expert in the martial arts, but it will also be designed by an expert in the latest methods in education.
Mr Rob has been recognized by state governor's, industry leaders, and civic groups for his contributions to the youth of our country. His school was named one of the top 200 martial arts schools in America in 2002. Mr Rob has been named a "Paul Harris Fellow" by Rotary International for supporting cultural exchanges and fostering goodwill among nations.
Mr Rob believes everyone regardless of their limitations will benefit from martial arts training. He participates in the Project Action Foundation which provides scholarships to school age students who might not be able to afford martial arts training without assistance.
Mr Rob has appeared in motion pictures, and has helped design action scenes used in feature films. Mr Rob has given numerous seminars across the country, and is an agent in the Kid Safe Network which helps prevent child abductions and molestations.
Mr Rob believes modern training methods produce superior students. All the martial arts masters surveyed today agree that the old- fashioned "dungeon dojos" and primitive teaching methods of days gone by did not produce better martial artists. You do not have to be injured to learn how to avoid injuries.
Finally, Mr Rob is firmly commited to every student achieving their goals in the study of martial arts. He views himself as a coach and mentor, not as a "master" "The greatest accomplishment I can achieve, said Mr Rob, " is to have a student surpass my own proficiency."
